National Religious Campaign Against Torture

June 24th, 2008

Nativity presents Dr. George Hunsinger, professor of Systematic Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary who will be speaking on “Nothing Less is at Stake in the Torture Crisis Than the Soul of Our Nation”, on Thursday, July 24th at noon.  A catered luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall, at $10.00 per person.  Please call the church office for reservations, and more information.

For those Sunday’s that you are out of town and not able to attend Nativity, you can now hear that missed sermon on the website.  The sermon will be posted every Monday morning, on the front page as “Last Week’s Sermon”, and archive sermons will be under stored in “Spirituality”.

Nativity is Moving to One Service This Summer

We invite you to attend our summer schedule, beginning June 22nd to Labor Day weekend.  Nativity will have one service at 9:30 am, except for July 13th, service will be at 10:00 am.

Homeless Neighbors on China Hat

On May 13th Council President Richard Berg was interviewed by Oregon Public Radio to discuss the relationship ministry that Nativity Lutheran Church has with our homeless neighbors located on China Hat.  Julie Sabatier of “Think Out Loud” wanted to learn about the approach the congregation is using to build ongoing relationships and how we measure success.  Please click here to hear the entire interview.   

Vacation Bible School

Nativity Lutheran, Grace First Lutheran and Trinity Episcopal Church’s will be having an exciting Vacation Bible School this year, from July 7-10 at Nativity Lutheran Church on Brosterhous and Knott Road.  All are welcome from preschool through fifth grade. Part-Time Position Available

Children’s Program Director

Nativity Lutheran Church in Bend, Oregon seeks a dynamic leader to design and build a children’s program emphasizing music, art, fun and Christ-inspired community service.  This is a part time position, (about 20 hours a week.  Paying approximately $10K/yr.  The ideal candidate will be a creative person who has a vision of how such a program would work, and the passion to build it from the ground up. Children’s choir? Kid’s “Sunday Fun” club? Give us your ideas! The ideal candidate would have: college education, background in child development/Christian education, experience in music/arts, and access to your own car. The Director will be supervised by, and report to the Church Pastor. Background check required, raises/continuation subject to annual performance review. Nativity Summer Camp-Out

Join us for a relaxing weekend of friendship, fellowship and plenty of outdoor recreation. Activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, boating (rentals available), mountain biking and lots of time for R&R. Cost is free.  More details will follow.
